Fashion design meets U-M research in wearable human neural stem cell images

Custom designed scarves and ties draw attention to bipolar disorder research advances

Stem Cells and Butterflies Silk Necktie
  • A collaboration between artist Dominic Pangborn and the Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Research Fund, this color blocked pattern features translucent butterflies floating across vibrant images of human stem cells. The stem cells are an important focus of the ground breaking research for bipolar disorder that the Prechter Research Fund supports. According to Pangborn, the addition of butterflies to the design "signifies metamorphosis.".

The Prechter Fund's ultimate goal is to allow people with bipolar disorder to live happy, normal lives.

By purchasing this limited edition necktie, you are helping this important science move forward.

All net proceeds will go directly to Prechter bipolar research projects at the University of Michigan Depression Center
